Pancakes!

Yes, pancakes.  Easy to do, delicious and homemade.  A wonderful breakfast for a rainy Saturday morning in Suisun City.  The sour milk adds a bit of tang.

1.5 Cups regular Flour (not bread flour)
2 teaspoons Baking Powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
Stir, stir, and  stir
1 Egg
2 Tablespoons vegetable oil (NOT OLIVE...silly!)
Milk to make it wet and a smooth pour.
Mix well but don't overdo the mixing. Let it be a bit lumpy.

Heat a griddle or skillet til drops of water do a water dance on top...about 375 degrees.

Pour to size you wish, do not tamp down, just watch, when the bubbles on the outside start to dry, flip it over, do not tamp it down.  Wait a bit til you see brown around the edges...pull it! Do it again til all gone.  Add nuts or berries or both if you like.  Serve with butter and REAL maple syrup!

Oh and the Inet is still running fine, speedier than before the big letdown.

Speedtest

I'm slow.  Move slow, think slow, am slow.  Today is Tuesday, slow Tuesday.  Take cat Mucca on a leash outside onto the porch, he does not like a leash...he is slow.  I sit he strains to go somewhere, anywhere where there is no leash restraining him from his cat mind and it's wants.  I am slow.  I get up, he balks behind the iron planter stand, I talk soothingly to cat (I'm slow remember) he strains to walk behind it and tangle the drip hose in the leash.  I pull, he strains, I pull, he strains. He jumps up on the window ledge nearly toppling the planter. Cara stares at him through the window over Kelly's desk disaster.  I relent in my quest and Mucca returns inside to scratch himself and terrorize his mother 'til she growls and he slinks away to sit onto of a leaning pile of books and stare.

All's well in DSL Land as of YESTERDAY, when AT&T came to repair their drop line to the house box...noisy and intermittent DSL as well.  New wires down from the pole mounted box and l'viola! FIXED!  Left his tool bag here so I called Sonic (my ISP) to inform the central office that I have the gents tool case and contents awaiting.  Here's the new test results from http://speedtest.sonic.net/ookla/ .

Slow. Very slow.  No paper on Tuesdays.  Yep, that's the new way hereabouts.  The Daily Repulsive (Republik) decided as a cost saving measure or to confound everyone to eliminate the Tuesday edition.  Yes, we still pay the same amount only get 6/7ths the coverage.  It hardly matters as most of the content (ahem...) is from the AP wire and Faux News anyway, it is a Rite leaning paper.

My daughter dearest Ashley has married Andy, it was coming we knew but the timing was nearer than farther as we thought.  They make a great couple, both foodies, he gluten intolerant, she pickyas hell...makes a great match up.  Two Californians living in South Carolina.  Fabulous!  He a geek, she the so independent.  Great funny couple of he and she.  I love them both.

A Better Day.... INDEED!

Oh yes, the 24th of February was a BIG DAY for Kelly and Howard Lute.  It was the day we tied the proverbial KNOT, we were married!  We had known each other for about 5 years more or less through our mutual employment at Control Data Corporation in SF.  I was just another friend among many through much of that time, I was busy, busy, busy with my "career" in management at CDC after a long stint as a Field Engineer in the same building.  Now I was an Area Manager running three "Fair Break" training programs for unemployed workers.  CDC, under JTPA contract,  built and ran these schools all over the country, something that should be resurrected in my honest opinion.  As my own contract at the training center in Union City had expired and there was no further renewal with the local agency that directed and funded theses programs, I had been promoted to help setup and run three new ones.  I needed an office with secretarial support and a team approach through the CDC Control Data Institute in SF was just the answer...so I moved into a spare office in the building I had left two years prior as an FE for Engineering Services.  Got that?   In that role I met my future wife Kelly, which I didn't know at the time.  Much transpired during the years I was there, a whirlwind by anyone's estimation.  By the end of 65 I was an "ex", divorced from my first wife of 19yrs and living with my best friend Jerry in Mill Valley.  In March of '66 I moved in with Kelly and we began our life together. We worked together, played together, travelled together much as we do now.  I've never been so happy in my entire life thanks to her. Happy Anniversary Babe!  Quack!

P.S. Oh yeah (Being 70 is like this!...It's our 25th Anniversary!  May we enjoy 25 more!
